Some thoughts in response to this week's topic of the history of communication -
I found the readings on key points in communication history quite interesting. They way in which important technological advances have resulted in altering the ways in which we communicate isn't something I'd previously given much thought to, but it is something I'd like to look into further - particularly the ways in which the internet has affected interpersonal communication and connectivity.
Andrew Tribute's article 'Pulling the Plug on the Internet' (2005) looks at the significance of the cellular phone and the internet to the process of communication, and the implications for business practices. Tribute stresses the significance of the cell phone, asserting that it "created the unwired communications world" (2005).
